the rain!

eye am sitting in the middle of a rainforest.

the frogs have just gotten quiet now.

everything is wet here.

alive.

breathing.

chirping.

this is what eye call 'frogland'.

eye've started writing a new book entitled just that,  'frogland'.

internet access has been shutdown on this part of the island,  

due to the last storm which destroyed the local isp's equipment,

so,  eye'm gonna have to go into town to get online,

and what a vortex am eye in right now.

there was a huge concert here last night.

today eye cleaned out my second coconut tree.

eye'm learning how to harvest coconuts,

and how to prune and maintain coconut trees,

which are a glorious gift.

this property is abundant with wild...

there's food growing all over the place.

avocados.

papayas.

rambutans.

ulu.

macadamia grows around here.

jack fruits and jack fruit seeds.

we've been experimenting with eating all the local,  raw,  wild,  available foods.

some of them you have to cook,

but we've been experimenting with rocket stoves.

a lot's been going on.

a whole lot.

been connecting with really wonderful people.

um,  eye drank too much homemade wine the other night  and was in bed for the whole day.

eye've been working really hard.

a lot of garden work,  a lot of composting,  a lot of learning about the local plants here.

the local natural food store is giving me cans so eye can keep on building rocket stoves.

eye gave the manager one and she was just very happy,

and she shared it with everyone.

was a good experience.

good things are happening.

eye am enjoying this place.

it's pretty wild,  it's pretty crazy,  quite frankly.

apparently the lava lives right nearby.

eye haven't seen it yet.

it's dangerous.

lava.

the whole town that eye'm in,  the area was consumed by lava,

it just gobbled up the whole town and left this little green strip of lush,  lush life.

this place is full of frogs.

chirping.

some of the largest frogs eye've seen anywhere,

and the cutest small ones which are everywhere,

this place is alive.

so yeah,  welcome to the jungle.

indeed.
